Dogs host high scoring Broncos at SMC

Put your heads together to stop the Bronco juggernaut

The Fresno State Bulldogs will host the Boise State Broncos Monday night at the Save Mart Center. The Broncos come in with a 14-5 overrall record and are 2nd in the WAC at 5-2 while the Bulldogs are 10-10 overrall and 3-3 in the WAC. The Broncos will bring their high scoring attack that averages 83 points per game into the Save Mart Center looking to finish the first half of WAC play 6-2.

The Broncos coming in:

The Broncos were on the island on Saturday where they took care of the Warriors 95-80. Senior guard Matt Bauscher scored 21 points, while Matt Nelson had 21 points and 12 boards. The Broncos hit 14 of 22 from three point range to keep the game out of reach for Hawaii. The Broncos led by 25 at halftime 47-22.

Key Bronco Stats:

-Reggie Larry (18.3 pts, 9.1 rebs)
-Matt Nelson (15.9 pts, 8 rebs, 66% fgs)
-52% field goals (leads nation)
-83 points per game (11th nation)
-8.4 3 point field goals per game
-40.4% 3 point field goal %
-18.2 assists per game (18th nation)

The Dogs entering:

The Bulldogs were able to avenge their loss in San Jose with a win over the Spartans Saturday night 75-58. Senior guards Eddie Miller and Kevin Bell combined for 42 points, with Miller hitting 7 threes on his way to tying his career high of 27 points. Bell added 15 points and 8 assists.

Freshman Ned Golubovic set his career high with 14 points and also added 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Golubovic has averaged 9.3 points per game, hit 55% from the field, and 44% from three in WAC play. His minutes have steadily increased as has his contributions as the season has gone on. Consider that Golubovic was a redshirt candidate to start the season.

Key Bulldog stats:

-169 made 3 point field goals on the season
-lead the WAC in defense at 66.3 points per game
-lead the WAC in turnover margin at +2.80
-Eddie Miller 3.4 made 3 points field goals per contest
-Dogs at a -5.6 rebounding margin
-68 points per game
-69.4 % free throws
-33.5% 3 point field goal percentage
-Kevin Bell (17.1 ppg, 6 assists, 3 rebs)

MBs Take:

This will be tough for a Bulldogs team that gets dominated inside and gets beaten up on the offensive glass by everyone. Add to the fact that the Broncos can knock down the three and we have ourselves some issues.

Dogs play inspired at home but lose 85-80.
